We offer a variety of services and therapies to help children with disabilities and complex medical conditions. Our services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and behavioral therapy. We also offer nursing care and medical services to ensure that each child's medical needs are met.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
What is occupational therapy?
Occupational therapy empowers children to be the most functional and independent versions of themselves. Through a strengths based approach tailor-made activities, and hands on care, goals/needs are met. These can range from tolerating hair brushing to walking independently. OT covers a wide scope of practice, with every child’s personal needs in mind.

What do occupational therapists do?
Our occupational therapists will design a treatment plan to help your child improve fine motor skills, self-help skills (dressing, hygiene, and self-feeding), social interaction, sensory processing and self-regulation.



PHYSICAL THERAPY
What is Physical Therapy?
Physical therapy helps children with difficulties in movement, coordination, and cognitive functions, it also promotes learning and independent play by exploring their environment using their hands and other senses.

What do physical therapists do?
Our physical therapists will provide treatment designed to improve your child's movement, strength, balance, endurance, motor planning, and coordination.



SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY
What is Speech therapy?
Speech and language therapy focuses on a child’s ability to communicate functionally and express their wants and needs - communicating looks different for everyone, some use signs/gestures, words/stories, literature, body language or even just crying for babies.

What do speech therapists do?
Our speech therapists help children develop functional communication in a variety of settings . These therapists treat speech, language, cognition, voice, swallowing disorders, and social language skills.



RESPIRATORY THERAPY
What do respiratory therapists do?
At Happy Island the Respiratory therapist plays an important role in providing care to infant, toddler and older children with lung problems whether it be Restrictive or Obstructive: Asthma, Cystic Fibrosis, Respiratory Failure, Sleep apnea and other respiratory problems. Our role is to provide respiratory care, breathing exercise and treatments to help the patient breathe better and improve their overall respiratory condition.

Pet therapy provides psycho-social, emotional and physical benefits for a variety of kids. It proves especially valuable when working with vulnerable groups of children including those with a mental or physical disability
